Swimmers plunge into chilly Raglan waters

Swimmers take to the water in the Raglan annual mid-winter swim

On Sunday morning, thirty swimmers and one dog plunged into chilly Raglan water at the Kopua boat ramp for the Raglan annual mid-winter swim.  They were dressed in the usaul range of colourful dress.  Wonder woman dropped in for a swim and a passing waiter delivered glasses of bubbly to the swimmers.  A crowd of about 50 watched the swimmers enter the chilly water.

Prizes were awarded for the best:

  • fancy dress
  • school turnout
  • team
  • family

The Raglan Community House team won the award for the best fancy dress.  Dave Hanna was on had to award spot prizes of chocolate fish and there was a lolly scramble for the children.  The Raglan Coastguard supervised the event.  All proceeds went to Raglan Surf Club and Raglan Coastguard.  The swim was sponsored by Ray White Raglan Real Estate and the Raglan Chamber of Commerce.
